April 2026: A fine recovery

After our worst month on record in March, April brought a much-needed bounce-back: a profit of €5,307.59 across our 21-algo portfolio. While this doesn't fully recover the €11,098 we lost in March, it's a solid step in the right direction and a reminder of why we run the algos as a diversified basket rather than betting on any single strategy.

Looking at the equity curve, we've recovered close to half of the March drawdown in a single month. As I've said many times before — drawdowns are part of any systematic approach, and the right response is patience and discipline, not panic at the bottom.

The biggest contributors this month came from the US index side. Prime US100 M30 led the way with a gain of €1,989.5, followed by Cuts SP500 M10 at €1,514.8. The Cuts family in general had an excellent month, with Cuts DAX M3 also adding over €1,100.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Prime DAX algos were the biggest losers of the month. While some Prime DAX variants did well — Prime DAX M3b (€961.2) and Prime DAX H1 (€748.1) had strong months — two of them dragged hard in the opposite direction:

Prime DAX M3c (-€1,129) and Prime DAX M2b (-€929). Combined, those two alone took roughly €2,000 off the top. Single algos posting four-figure losses in a relatively calm month is exactly the kind of signal we don't want to brush past, and we're digging into it.

Looking ahead, the new algo we previewed in March is now in final validation. The original plan was to release it in April, but we want a few more weeks of out-of-sample behavior before going live with it. More details next month.

On the website side, the redesign work continues — improvements to onboarding, the "How It Works" flow, and the support pages are all rolling out. Thanks to everyone who has shared feedback during the transition.

Also, what many of you have noticed we have had some bugs on the live trades site. This issue is now fixed and results should be accurate starting this month.

Comment from Carl

Good to see green again after a March like that. Half the drawdown recovered in a single month is exactly the kind of behavior I want to see from the portfolio, and it's why we always emphasize the basket over any single algo.
